The house is made up of several freeform volumes strung together in a chain. This makes it feel welcoming, almost like a cluster of neighbors, with none of the loneliness of a single building on a slope.3
The roof is almost invisible. With no overhang, it makes the house read like a cluster of boulders that blends naturally into its surroundings. Modern technology makes roofs like this possible even in cold climates.4
