The building's outer cocoon, an exoskeleton even, is set against the inner one in several ways at once: color, materials, and most of all form. Outside is the classic image of a gabled house, beginning to dissolve. Inside this nest a new, young form has been born, bursting outward and using the house as a base for growth.2
Inside, the brick wall is plastered dark gray to create a softer feel on the terrace.3
An interesting architectural move: the left roof slope on the main facade is rendered as a thin lattice structure. Clinker tiles from the same series were probably used there, since there's no support for full-size bricks.4
