Review :
Here's an inexpensive finish for a modern home, which I wrote about in a blog post. We're focused on the facades, but the rationality of the architecture itself is worth noting. The lot is compact, with all the outdoor areas adjoining or part of the house. The house suits warm climates best.

The planken isn't top grade; some boards are scorched or coated with dark oil. Even with little upkeep, the wood on the facade will weather toward the look of thermally treated decking.
3
Some of the walls are clad in even cheaper small-section battens with gaps. This simple variation on the same technique adds just the right detail to the facade. So nothing unwanted shows through the gaps between the planken, the wall can be painted black or wrapped in insulation faced with a black membrane.
4
The glazing is conventional, framed, with a metallic finish.
5
What stands out is the lack of a railing around the podium.
6
A laminated-glass barrier on posts or clamps. No handrail, so it doesn't block the view from inside.
7
Hidden drawers under the podium. We cover them in our newsletter.
