Brutalist concrete facade with geometric contrasts

#8593. Brutalist concrete facade with geometric contrasts

This modern architectural object is a striking example of brutalism reinterpreted in the context of the 21st century. The building is made of raw concrete, creating a powerful monolithic image that dominates the surrounding environment. The facade is organized as a series of offset rectangular volumes that create a dynamic composition, breaking the static nature of a typical commercial building.

Of particular note is the geometric contrast between the rectangular upper floors and the triangular glass entrance pavilion. This solution not only serves as an architectural accent but also creates a spatial transition between the street and the interior. Large panoramic windows of various sizes and shapes cut through the concrete mass, providing natural light and creating a rhythmic pattern on the facade.

Protruding balconies and terraces break up the monotony of the facade, adding volumetric depth and functionality to the building. Notably, there is an absence of decorative elements – expressiveness is achieved exclusively through structural solutions, the play of volumes, and the texture of raw concrete.

For private housing, one can borrow such techniques as the use of contrasting geometric shapes, creation of dynamic projections and recesses, combination of different textures (for example, concrete and glass), as well as the design of functional open spaces integrated into the overall volume. Even with the modest dimensions of a private home, the use of asymmetry and playing with volumes can create an architecturally expressive solution.
