Neoclassical Brick Facade with Colonnade and Fanlight Pediment

#5411. Neoclassical Brick Facade with Colonnade and Fanlight Pediment

This brick building exemplifies a striking instance of neoclassical architecture adapted for an urban setting. The facade features a symmetrical composition with emphasis on the central section, where the main entrance is framed by classical Doric columns supporting a second-tier balcony with elegant wrought iron railings.

Particularly noteworthy is the semi-circular arched fanlight window in the pediment of the upper floor, adding elegance and historical authenticity to the building. The facade is constructed of red brick, creating an expressive contrast with the white architectural elements—columns, cornices, and window frames. This combination of materials and colors is a characteristic feature of American Colonial Revival style.

The rectangular window openings on the second and third floors emphasize the rhythmic structure of the building, while the arched windows of the lower floor add visual variety. The front staircase with metal railings leads to the main entrance, enhancing the monumental character of the structure despite its relatively modest size. An information plaque visible on the facade suggests the building may serve as a public or commercial space while maintaining its historical appearance.
