#2638. Neo-Gothic Facade with Catalan Symbolism and Bifora Windows

The photograph depicts a fragment of an exquisite building facade executed in Neo-Gothic style with elements of Catalan Modernism. The facade base is made of light-colored sandstone or limestone, creating an elegant beige background for the architectural details.

At the center of the composition is a diamond-shaped heraldic shield with ornamental decoration and a Catalan symbol — presumably the coat of arms of a city or region. The shield is framed with delicate floral ornamentation in the form of acanthus leaves and scrolls, which is characteristic of Neo-Gothic and Modernist decorative plastics.

On both sides of the facade are symmetrically placed window openings with distinctive pointed arches divided by a central column, forming a bifora — a typical element of Gothic architecture. The windows are framed with light-colored stone that contrasts with the main tone of the facade and are equipped with green shutters.

Above the windows are decorative circular rosettes with quatrefoil openwork elements — a classic Gothic style motif. The upper part of the facade is adorned with elegant brackets and decorative consoles featuring floral ornamentation.

All decorative elements are executed with remarkable attention to detail, testifying to the high mastery of stonemasons and sculptors. Such facade treatment is typical of Catalan architecture from the late 19th to early 20th century, when Neo-Gothic motifs reinterpreted in the spirit of Art Nouveau were popular.
