Stepped Facade in Catalan Art Nouveau Style with Floral Decorations

#973. Stepped Facade in Catalan Art Nouveau Style with Floral Decorations

Before us stands a striking example of modernist architecture with a clear influence of Catalan Art Nouveau. The building's facade impresses with its rhythmic and symmetrical design, created by characteristic stepped gables in the upper section. Each of these elements is crowned with decorative ornaments, giving the structure sophistication and a certain theatrical quality.

The upper tier of the facade displays five large stepped pediments with rich floral decorations. The plant motifs in the central medallions of each pediment are particularly noteworthy – they are executed in relief technique and create an interesting interplay of light and shadow on the beige surface of the wall. The row of windows in the upper tier is adorned with green shutters, adding a color contrast to the facade.

The lower tier of the building is designed in a more restrained manner and decorated with elegant vegetal ornaments in the form of damask patterns. Five balcony doors with distinctive green shutters and wrought iron railings create a harmonious rhythm and emphasize the horizontal line of the lower tier, balancing the vertical thrust of the pediments. The entire facade is maintained in warm sandy tones, which is typical for Mediterranean architecture.
