Monolithic Shingle Facade: A Contemporary Interpretation of Traditional Form

#8696. Monolithic Shingle Facade: A Contemporary Interpretation of Traditional Form

The image showcases a minimalist modern house with a distinctive facade completely clad in dark shingles. The architectural form of the building resembles the archetypal silhouette of a house with a gabled roof, but interpreted in a contemporary manner. The monolithic appearance of the facade is achieved by using the same material for both the walls and the roof, visually unifying all elements into a single composition.

Of particular interest is the texture of the facade, created using rectangular shingles laid in an overlapping pattern. This technique gives the building tactility and creates an interplay of light and shadow on the surface. The dark color of the facade contrasts with large glazed surfaces, which are framed with minimalist frames. The cantilevered projection of the second floor creates dynamics and adds volume to the overall composition.

In the design, one can note the harmonious combination of strict geometry and textural diversity. This approach can be used in other projects as well: unifying the material for various facade elements creates coherence and expressiveness, while large glazed surfaces ensure a connection between the interior and the surrounding landscape. The landscaping with stone paving and neat flower plantings complements the overall composition, softening the strictness of the architectural forms.
