Victorian Facade with a Red Door: A Striking Example of Historic Urban Portal Design

#777. Victorian Facade with a Red Door: A Striking Example of Historic Urban Portal Design

The photograph showcases a luxurious entrance to a historic building in Victorian architectural style. The central element of the composition is a bright red door (numbered 1216), framed by an impressive portal with elements of classical order. The doorway is decorated in a rich color palette: the combination of brick-red wall, deep blue pilasters with beige inserts and black details creates a striking contrast.

The architectural design of the portal is distinguished by meticulous attention to detail: a cornice with decorative elements, a semicircular pediment above the upper part of the door, and pilasters characteristic of neoclassical style on the sides. Of particular note is the circular decorative element with a red center in the upper part of the composition. The red entrance door has six panels and a small glazed section at the top, above which is a transom window allowing light into the hallway.

The composition is complemented by two symmetrically placed planters with flowering plants, which add coziness and completeness to the entrance group. The entrance is elevated above ground level, with a small platform and semicircular doormat in front of the door. The combination of strict symmetry, thoughtful proportions, and a vibrant color scheme makes this entrance a fine example of the decorative approach to historic urban facade design.
