Before us stands the majestic historical building of the Wistar Institute of Anatomy, dated 1908 as indicated on the facade. The building is executed in a neoclassical style using traditional materials - predominantly red brick with limestone elements.
The facade of the building features strict symmetry and precise proportions. The central entrance is accentuated by a semi-circular arch with decorative wooden doors adorned with diamond-shaped glass elements. A small staircase with classical design metal railings leads to the entrance.
Particularly noteworthy is the work with horizontal and vertical articulations: the windows of the first and second floors are framed with light limestone casings, creating an expressive contrast with the brickwork. The upper part of the building is decorated with an ornate cornice featuring modillions and other classical elements.
The basement level is constructed from more solid and massive material, visually creating a sense of a reliable foundation. The name of the institute "WISTAR INSTITUTE OF ANATOMY" is engraved above the entrance, which was typical for academic institutions of that period and emphasizes the institutional character of the building.
The surrounding landscaping with neat greenery complements the monumental character of this example of early 20th century academic architecture.
