Majestic Neoclassical Façade of OC Tanner: Symmetry, Columns and Arches in Stone

#6203. Majestic Neoclassical Façade of OC Tanner: Symmetry, Columns and Arches in Stone

Before us stands an outstanding example of neoclassical architecture – the OC Tanner Building, which harmoniously combines monumentality and elegance. The façade is crafted from light-colored stone, giving it a noble and solemn appearance characteristic of public buildings from the early 20th century.

The central portico with its magnificent Corinthian columns deserves special attention, as they support the entablature with a graceful pediment. Above the central part of the façade is a decorative heraldic element, emphasizing the building's official status. The symmetry of the façade is enhanced by semi-circular arched windows on the first floor, framed by delicate stone carvings.

The second floor features more restrained ornamentation, however, the balustrade above the central entrance adds visual lightness to the composition. Massive wooden doors with carved elements contrast with the light stone of the façade, creating a focal point for the entire composition.

The roof of the building is a complex multi-pitched structure with two types of covering – copper in the central part and tiled along the edges, creating an interesting color and textural contrast. The rounded forms of the façade soften the strictness of the classical elements, giving the building a unique character in the context of the surrounding modern development.
