#6093. Portuguese façade with blue door and traditional azulejos

Before me is an exquisite example of Portuguese architecture with characteristic use of traditional azulejos (ceramic tiles). The façade of building No. 17 is decorated with colorful ceramic tiles featuring a repeating geometric pattern in brown and blue tones, creating a visually rich background for the central element of the composition — the entrance door.

The doorway is framed by an elegant stone arch made of light limestone, creating a clear contrast with the vibrant wall finish. Above the door is a semicircular transom with decorative wrought iron grillwork featuring graceful curls executed in Art Nouveau style.

The door itself represents a genuine work of art. Painted in deep blue, it has a symmetrical double-leaf construction with richly ornamented panels. The lower part of each leaf features relief quatrefoils, characteristic of the Portuguese decorative tradition. The central panels of the door are adorned with openwork metal grilles with a floral ornament in the form of stylized flowers and stems. Door handles and hardware are also crafted with attention to aesthetic details.

This façade demonstrates a combination of functionality and decorativeness typical for Portuguese architecture, where traditional elements acquire special expressiveness thanks to bright color solutions and masterly execution of details.
