Polychrome Secession Façade: A Harmony of Color and Ornament

#5958. Polychrome Secession Façade: A Harmony of Color and Ornament

Before us stands an expressive example of decorative Art Nouveau from the early 20th century. The façade of the building showcases a rich combination of colors and ornaments characteristic of the Secession style. The main surface of the façade is executed in a beige color, serving as a neutral background for the vibrant decorative elements.

Special expressiveness is achieved through vertical stripes of reddish-brown color alternating with blue panels adorned with golden ornamental motifs. The arched windows of the upper level are framed with exquisite décor featuring golden medallions. Above the central arches are decorative mascarons with gold coating, giving the building a distinct theatrical quality.

In the upper part of the façade, two semicircular elements with blue backgrounds and stylized ornaments reminiscent of flora and fauna motifs are particularly noteworthy. Below the arches of the lower tier is an entrance with double wooden doors, above which is placed a decorative panel with flowing lines characteristic of Art Nouveau.

The composition of the façade is strictly symmetrical, lending the building a sense of grandeur despite the playfulness of its decorative elements. This is a fine example of architecture where functionality harmoniously combines with artistic expressiveness typical of the Art Nouveau period.
