Decorative Art Nouveau Brick Façade with Ceramic Tile Panels

#5834. Decorative Art Nouveau Brick Façade with Ceramic Tile Panels

We are looking at an expressive façade in the Art Nouveau style with elements of Neo-Gothic influence. The brickwork of the façade is executed with remarkable attention to detail: the main wall of red brick is complemented by decorative patterns in yellow brick, creating a striking contrast.

The central element of the composition is a triple arched niche with semicircular completions, framed above by a wider decorative arch. The vertical decorative panels on both sides of the window opening deserve special attention, executed in the technique of ceramic tiles with floral motifs. They depict stylized flowers — pansies, stems, and leaves in the fluid, organic manner characteristic of Art Nouveau.

In the lower part of the panels, stylized female faces are placed, which is a typical decorative element of the early 20th century Art Nouveau. The color palette of the tiles — delicate greens, blues, and pastel tones — harmoniously contrasts with the warm red and yellow brick.

The upper part of the window composition is adorned with a horizontal decorative frieze featuring a plant-based ornament. The architect masterfully used stone elements (possibly sandstone or limestone) for window framing and structural details, adding tectonic expressiveness to the façade.

The building demonstrates virtuoso mastery of brickwork and ceramic tile decoration, characteristic of the flourishing period of decorative arts at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
