Polychrome Art Nouveau facade with zoomorphic and floral decorative elements

#5802. Polychrome Art Nouveau facade with zoomorphic and floral decorative elements

The image showcases an expressive fragment of a historical building facade, richly adorned with decorative elements in the Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) or Secession style from the early 20th century. Particular attention is drawn to the central ornamental composition above the entrance group, marked with the number 94.

The upper part of the decorative frieze demonstrates skillful stucco work with a floral motif, including a stylized tree in the center, flanked by two animals (resembling lions or mythical creatures) that are symmetrically arranged. At the edges of the frieze, two golden peacocks with open tails are placed, giving the composition particular refinement.

The lower tier of the facade is designed more modestly, but also contains decorative elements in the form of stylized plants and floral motifs. Characteristic are symmetrical niches framed by plant ornaments and complemented by reddish horizontal inserts. The window frames are painted in a rich green color, which harmoniously combines with the polychrome decor of the facade.

Such rich decorative design of the facade using natural motifs and stylized animals is typical for Central European architecture of the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, especially for Vienna, Prague, or Budapest, where architects actively experimented with plastic forms and vibrant color solutions.
