#4273. Blue Victorian Facade with Red Bay Windows: A Vibrant Example of San Francisco's "Painted Lady" Style

Before us stands a magnificent example of San Francisco Victorian architecture – an expressive residential building in the "Painted Lady" style. The facade showcases the characteristic bold polychromatic color scheme of this style: a deep blue base tone of the walls contrasts dramatically with bright red window frames and golden-yellow decorative elements.

The bay windows deserve special attention – protruding semi-circular facade elements with large windows on the two upper floors. They are framed with skillfully crafted wooden trim featuring decorative details characteristic of the Victorian era: festoons, carved cornices, and ornamental friezes. The upper part of the bay windows is crowned with elegant cornices with dentil moldings and garland decorations.

On the roof of the building sits a small tower with a triangular pediment and decorative elements, giving the silhouette of the house completeness and recognizable Victorian verticality. The entrance group with columns and stairs, painted in a pinkish shade, creates a welcoming accent in the facade composition.

The black metal balcony between the second-floor bay windows complements the architectural ensemble, adding additional depth and functionality to the facade. Together, these elements create a unique specimen of residential architecture, reflecting the rich architectural heritage of late 19th century San Francisco.
