Before us is an outstanding example of Russian eclectic architecture from the late 19th century, presumably a mansion or public building in the Neo-Russian style. The facade demonstrates an extraordinarily rich decorative program with characteristic elements of the pseudo-Russian direction, combined with European architectural motifs.
The facade is made of red brick with abundant decorative elements. Compositionally, the building is asymmetrical, with varying heights of volumes, which gives it a picturesque and expressive appearance. The central part is accentuated by arched windows on the second floor and crowned with a mansard roof featuring decorative metal railings. The left wing deserves special attention with its characteristic onion dome on a high drum—a clear reference to ancient Russian architecture.
The decorative design of the facade employs traditional Russian-style kokoshniks (arch-like decorative elements), arched window openings, columns and semi-columns, and rich cornices with fine plastic details. The multi-level architectural features are noteworthy: numerous friezes, panels with geometric ornaments, and patterned inserts between windows. The polychromatic solution of the facade is based on the contrast between red brick and lighter decorative elements.
The complex-shaped metal roofs with characteristic bends complement the expressive silhouette of the building. The first floor appears more massive and serves as a kind of pedestal for the more ornate second tier, which is typical for representative buildings of that period.
