Blue Mascaron: Art Nouveau Mosaic Facade Decoration

#2518. Blue Mascaron: Art Nouveau Mosaic Facade Decoration

We are looking at an exquisite fragment of mosaic decoration, likely belonging to a modernist or neoclassical architectural solution from the early 20th century. The composition represents a decorative element of the facade, executed in ceramic mosaic technique with a predominance of rich blue, white, and orange hues.

The central part of the composition features a stylized mask or mascaron in blue with characteristic curls reminiscent of sea motifs. On either side of the central element are decorative garlands in orange with floral motifs, creating the impression of hanging draperies. All of this is framed by a geometric pattern of white tiles with blue and orange accents, forming a clear structure for the entire element.

The lower part of the decor represents an architectural framing of an arched opening, where blue curved lines contrast with the geometric precision of the light background. The mosaic laying technique demonstrates high craftsmanship, despite noticeable traces of time and the loss of individual fragments.

This decorative element is a striking example of the synthesis of decorative arts and architecture, characteristic of the Art Nouveau or Art Deco period, when building facades were adorned with such expressive details, giving structures individuality and artistic value.
