Art Nouveau Façade with Ceramic Panel and Trefoil Arch

#2072. Art Nouveau Façade with Ceramic Panel and Trefoil Arch

Before us is an expressive fragment of a façade in the Art Nouveau style with elements of Catalan Modernisme. The warm reddish-brown brickwork creates the foundation for a complex architectural composition. The central element is a window opening divided into two symmetrical windows with green wooden frames.

Of particular interest is the decorative design: above the windows is a trefoil-shaped arch (trifolium) laid with brick, which is a characteristic motif of Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau styles. On the sides of the window openings are skillfully carved stone reliefs with floral ornaments depicting flowers and decorative curls.

In the center of the composition between the windows is a bright vertical ceramic panel in blue tones depicting a stylized plant with round yellow fruits and a fantastic dragon or salamander – a motif often found in the works of Art Nouveau architects, especially in Catalan Modernisme. This decorative element starkly contrasts with the brickwork and emphasizes the sophistication of the entire architectural solution.

The combination of materials (brick, stone, ceramic tile, glass) and colors (reddish-brown, green, beige, blue, yellow) creates a rich textural and coloristic palette characteristic of Art Nouveau architecture from the turn of the 19th-20th centuries.

We redesign facades of cottages.
