#1763. Art Nouveau Botanical Ornament: Stylized Sunflowers and Acanthus Scrolls on the Facade

This fragment of architectural decoration represents an exquisite example of stucco ornament characteristic of the Art Nouveau period or late Historicism. We are presented with an elegant composition consisting of repeating botanical motifs – stylized sunflowers in the upper row and wavelike scrolls with acanthus leaves in the lower row. Particularly noteworthy is the fine elaboration of details: each "sunflower" has a clearly defined center with radially diverging elements, creating an interesting play of light and shadow.

The color palette of this façade element is represented by natural stone shades – from light beige to dark brown, indicating the natural aging of the material and giving the composition special authenticity. The background is painted in a pleasant bluish tint, which emphasizes the volume and expressiveness of the stucco work.

Such decorative elements are not just embellishments – they reflect the character of an era when natural forms were actively stylized and incorporated into architectural contexts. In modern facade design, such details can be creatively reinterpreted, for example, in the form of more laconic reliefs or perforated panels that preserve the rhythm and plasticity of their historical prototype.
