#16367. Historic stone facade with Neo-Gothic elements and polychrome frieze

This image showcases an excellent example of eclectic architecture with pronounced Neo-Romanesque and Neo-Gothic elements. The building's facade is constructed from natural sandstone, which creates an impression of solidity and historical significance. Particularly striking is the contrasting combination of stone masonry with terracotta-colored brick elements framing the window openings.

The architectural composition of the facade is meticulously designed: the lower floor features arched windows with characteristic pointed finishes, referencing Gothic traditions. The upper row of windows has a more restrained rectangular shape but is also framed with decorative brick elements. Of special artistic value is the richly ornamented cornice below the roof, where a colorful ornamental frieze with repeating motifs and vibrant polychrome painting is placed.

The window openings are designed with particular attention to detail – brick casings create an effect of multi-layering and depth, adding plasticity and expressiveness to the facade. The use of polychromy in the upper part of the building softens the massiveness of the stone masonry and gives the structure a festive, elegant appearance.

In modern facade design, similar techniques of contrasting material combinations can be used to create an interesting interplay of textures. Even in contemporary private construction, decorative window framing elements, stylized cornices, and friezes can be successfully applied, adapting historical architectural techniques to modern technologies and materials.
