Nautical Art Deco Façade of "Shangri-La": Streamlined Forms and Thematic Design

#15302. Nautical Art Deco Façade of "Shangri-La": Streamlined Forms and Thematic Design

Before us is a striking example of an Art Deco building with nautical elements, known as "Shangri-La." The white/cream façade with rounded forms is characteristic of 1930s modernist architecture. The vertical element in the center of the façade creates an accent and visually divides the building, emphasizing its symmetry.

The architectural appearance of the building features streamlined forms, rounded corners, and characteristic horizontal lines on the façade. Windows with segmentation and semi-circular elements add elegance to the building. Particularly notable are the first-floor garage doors, painted blue and decorated with sailboat images, highlighting the maritime theme.

The three-story structure has a clear organization with repeating elements at each level, creating rhythm and harmony. The façade decoration uses minimalist decorative elements that don't overwhelm it, preserving the clean and laconic design.

For private construction, one could adopt techniques such as the use of clean lines, symmetry, accent vertical elements, and thematic décor (in this case, maritime). Contrasting coloration of specific façade elements can be an effective way to give individuality even to a small private home.
