#1407. Decorative Cast Iron Fence Against a Terracotta Facade

The image showcases an exquisite example of a cast iron wrought fence installed against a terracotta brick wall with a geometric relief pattern. This decorative railing demonstrates the high level of artistic casting typical of architecture from the second half of the 19th century.

The fence consists of several horizontal tiers, each adorned with various ornamental motifs. In the upper tier, we can see elegant floral rosettes connected by arched elements with leaf-like scrolls. The middle row features floral medallions creating a rhythmic pattern. The lower tier is designed with circular elements that contain relief star-shaped motifs.

The contrast between the black metal of the fence and the warm orange-peach shade of the wall creates a striking combination. The textured background of the brickwork with its protruding geometric ornament emphasizes the elegance and plasticity of the metallic lacework. This type of decorative barrier was often used in the design of balconies, parapets, and entrance groups of prominent buildings, adding sophistication and status to them.
