Two-tone Art Nouveau facade with contrasting textures and wave-like completions

#13905. Two-tone Art Nouveau facade with contrasting textures and wave-like completions

Before me stands a magnificent example of Art Nouveau architecture with Art Deco elements. The building captures attention with its two-tone facade, where the lower part is made of light-colored stone with characteristic masonry creating an expressive texture, while the upper part is crafted from terracotta material with smooth, wavelike lines.

The facade has a symmetrical composition with three semicircular completions at the upper level, where windows and inscriptions are located, presumably indicating the historical purpose of the building. Notable are the decorative elements between floors — horizontal projections creating a rhythmic division, as well as round decorative details resembling rosettes.

Of particular note is the contrast between the vertical rhythm of columns in the middle section and the horizontal masonry of the lower floor, creating an interesting interplay of forms and textures. Such facade design using different materials and textures achieves an impressive visual effect even with relatively simple overall building geometry.

In private construction, one could adopt the technique of combining different textures and materials, as well as using decorative elements for zoning the facade. The rounded completions and flowing lines soften the severity of rectangular forms, giving the building a special character and recognizability.

We develop facade projects for country houses.
