Symmetrical facade of a Bulgarian Revival house with wavy roof and golden decorations

#13850. Symmetrical facade of a Bulgarian Revival house with wavy roof and golden decorations

Before us stands a magnificent example of a traditional Bulgarian Revival house, known as the "Plovdiv type" or "Symmetrical type." This architectural masterpiece impresses with its expressive symmetry and rich decorative facade design. The key feature of the building is its characteristic wavy roof with three "bay windows" (protruding sections), creating a recognizable silhouette typical of Bulgarian national architecture from the 18th-19th centuries.

The facade astounds with its exquisite detailing: a dark blue background with golden ornamental motifs forms an aristocratic, almost palatial appearance. Particularly noteworthy is the central section with its rounded bay window and lavish paintings. The skilled carvings on the pediments demonstrate the influence of Ottoman and European architectural traditions, creating a unique Bulgarian style.

The facade is divided into two tiers: the lower one being more enclosed with fewer windows, and the upper featuring numerous symmetrically arranged windows adorned with carved frames. The decorative facade design using contrasting colors and gilded details can serve as inspiration for modern solutions in private home exteriors, especially when designing entrance areas and accent elements.

The well-maintained grounds with geometrically precise landscaping and paved pathways emphasize the historical significance of this architectural monument, which likely functions today as a museum or cultural center showcasing Bulgaria's rich architectural heritage.
