Eclectic Brick Façade with Art Nouveau Elements and Moorish Motifs

#1170. Eclectic Brick Façade with Art Nouveau Elements and Moorish Motifs

Before me is an impressive fragment of a façade executed in an eclectic style with clear influences of Art Nouveau and elements of Moorish architecture. The terracotta-colored brickwork forms the base of the composition, creating a warm, rich background for the decorative elements.

The upper part of the façade is adorned with an intricate geometric ornament of perforated brickwork, forming a rhythmic pattern of cross-shaped openings. This technique is not only decorative but also functional — such perforation may have served to ventilate the under-roof space.

The central element of the composition is an elegant tripartite window with blue wooden shutters, framed by an arched construction. Special expressiveness is added by the combination of turquoise-blue ceramic tiles laid as a mosaic background, terracotta brick, and cream-colored column capitals. This color scheme is characteristic of Art Nouveau from the turn of the 19th-20th centuries.

Below the window, there is a small decorative rosette with a floral ornament, also executed in turquoise tones, creating a visual echo with the window niche decoration. The lower part of the façade demonstrates fine brickwork, forming stylized crenellations and decorative protrusions.

Overall, the façade demonstrates high craftsmanship in the treatment of traditional materials and the creation of a rich textural palette, characteristic of Catalan Modernisme or similar regional interpretations of Art Nouveau style, incorporating local building traditions.
