Contrasting Façade with Turquoise Window Boxes

#11700. Contrasting Façade with Turquoise Window Boxes

This modern multi-unit building showcases a striking example of contrasting façade design. The structure consists of two main volumes with radically different finishing approaches: the left section is clad in dark brown panels creating a stern, monolithic appearance, while the right side features white vertical cladding that visually lightens the building's mass.

The most expressive design element is the projecting turquoise window frames on the white façade. These volumetric elements not only serve functional purposes (creating additional space and sun protection) but also give the building a characteristic rhythmic pattern, breaking up the monotony of the flat surface. Windows of varying sizes and positions form a dynamic composition that enlivens the entire façade.

The landscape design with its minimalist approach—gravel covering and young trees—complements the modern aesthetics of the building. The concrete bench at the entrance is a functional element that organically fits into the overall composition.

This project demonstrates effective techniques that can be adapted for a private home: contrasting combination of materials and colors, use of projecting elements to create volume and play of light and shadow, as well as clear zoning through different finishing materials. Particularly interesting is the idea of colored window frames projecting beyond the façade plane—such a solution can become the main accent even in a small private structure.
