The Asuntomessut Housing Fair will run from August 3 to 30, 2020, near Helsinki. Families will move into 41 houses after the fair closes

The concept of the Finnish housing fair Asuntomessut — is to create a new residential district of modern homes built specifically for the families who will live there after the fair closes. The district is designed for 400-500 people. Every year the location changes, along with the exhibitors, developers, and the types and number of homes.

In 2020, the Rykmentinpuisto neighborhood in Tuusula will have 41 houses, mostly single-family, plus several townhouses and 2 apartment buildings. The technologies vary: clay blocks, laminated timber, frame houses and concrete houses with permanent formwork. Here's a map and list of exhibitors.

Since the homes will be fully finished, interiors included, it's a great opportunity to see and experience them in person and find the right solutions for architecture, materials, furnishings and landscaping. Besides the show homes, the housing fair features exhibition halls and outdoor spaces where interior designers and furniture manufacturers will showcase their work.

The fair has already been moved from July to August because of the coronavirus pandemic. If it cannot be held in August (since it counts as an event of over 500 people), a smaller-attendance format will be offered for late fall. In addition, for 10 euros the exhibition can be visited remotely in  VR format

Asuntomessut (Asuntomessut — literally «housing fair» in Finnish) — is an annual low-rise construction exhibition held in Finland since 1970. The aim of the housing fair — is to improve individual home construction and to educate people about design possibilities, furnishing, and new materials and technologies. In Tuusula, the fair has already been held in 1970 and 2000. — if you have the inclination and the time, you can visit the earlier areas and compare how approaches and architecture have changed.

In Russia, an equivalent of this exhibition appeared in 2017 — Open Village. In 2020, the house exhibition will be held in the Stupino district of the Moscow region, at KP Semenovskoye (essentially a continuation of last year's fair, as 20 houses are at various stages of completion). The announced dates are from 25.07.2020 to 09.08.2020.
