Monolithic concrete façade with wooden accents: minimalism and contrast

#9564. Monolithic concrete façade with wooden accents: minimalism and contrast

This is an impressive example of modern minimalist architecture executed in a brutalist style. The façade features a clean concrete volume with a geometrically precise form. The monolithic concrete box creates a sense of solidity and simplicity, while the wooden window frames and opening borders introduce warmth and organic contrast.

The distinctive feature of the façade is the interplay between voids and volumes. Large panoramic windows on the ground floor are almost entirely glass with wooden framing, creating visual lightness in the lower part of the building. The upper floor combines windows of varying sizes, some of which are recessed, establishing a dynamic rhythm across the façade. Glass surfaces alternate with solid concrete walls, emphasizing the building's tectonics.

A key element is the minimalism of details: clean lines, absence of decorative elements, and a simple chimney pipe. Materials are used in their natural state—raw concrete and natural wood create a contrasting combination of cold and warm, industrial and natural.

When designing your own façade, several techniques can be adopted: contrasting material combinations (such as concrete and wood), using large window openings to connect interior with exterior, playing with the geometry and proportions of window openings, minimalist design without unnecessary details, and creating a balance between solidity and openness.
