Two-level facade: textural contrast in modern minimalism

#8651. Two-level facade: textural contrast in modern minimalism

This architectural object represents a modern minimalist mansion with an expressive contrasting facade. The building's facade is designed using two primary materials: the upper volume is clad with light-gray stone panels arranged in horizontal rows, while the lower section is finished in white, creating clear zoning and visual lightness of the structure.

Particularly noteworthy is the work with textures and geometry: the upper part of the facade with its textured stone cladding creates an interesting play of light and shadow, emphasizing the cubic volume of the building. The architect skillfully used the contrast between the cold gray stone and the warm wooden finishing of the lower level, where the terrace with swimming pool is located.

In the facade design, the technique of large glazing is applied — panoramic windows not only provide abundant natural lighting to interior spaces but also serve as an important compositional element. Especially expressive is the tall vertical window that forms an accent on the main facade.

For private housing construction, particularly valuable in this project is the demonstration of the principle of contrasting combinations of materials and textures: stone, glass, wood, and white plaster create an expressive yet harmonious image. Such techniques can be adapted for less ambitious projects, applying vertical zoning of the facade using different materials, as well as playing with the contrast of textures.
