#8517. Turquoise Facade: Classic American Colonial Revival with Contrasting Details

Before us is a classic American two-story house in the Colonial Revival style, featuring proportions and symmetrical facade characteristic of this architectural tradition. The main volume of the building is finished in a soft turquoise color, creating a pleasant contrast with the navy blue shutters and cream trim elements.

The facade demonstrates a clear vertical composition, emphasized by a central entrance with a small porch and metal railings. The cornice line deserves special attention with its decorative brackets that create a rhythmic pattern around the roof perimeter. The gabled roof with a dormer window completes the composition, adding a vertical accent to the building.

The windows on the first and second floors are executed in a unified style, with the six-pane division typical of Colonial Revival architecture. The navy blue shutters add graphic structure to the facade, highlighting the classical proportions of the window openings. Light-colored window casings stand out effectively against the turquoise siding, creating an elegant framing.

In designing one's own facade, several techniques could be borrowed: the contrasting combination of the main facade color with shutters and trim elements; the use of decorative brackets under the cornice to give the building character; highlighting the entrance group and maintaining symmetry in the arrangement of window openings. These details give the house a recognizable traditional appearance without depriving it of individuality.
