Dualistic Facade: House Embraced by a Tree

#7847. Dualistic Facade: House Embraced by a Tree

Before us is a unique example of modern low-rise architecture where the natural environment becomes an integral part of the construction. This small house stands out with its harmonious combination of natural materials and bold color solutions for the facade.

The distinctive feature of the facade composition lies in its dualism: the terracotta section on the left contrasts with the white on the right, creating visual balance. Wooden elements—window frames and supporting structures—play the role of a unifying element, softening the contrast between the two color blocks. The horizontal lines of the wooden window frames emphasize the low-slung nature of the building, creating a sense of stability and rootedness.

The most expressive element of the architectural solution is the integration of a living tree into the structure of the building. The branches of the tree literally penetrate through the roof, creating the impression that the house was built around the tree, not vice versa. This is a rare example of biophilic design, where architecture does not dominate nature but enters into a dialogue with it.

The entrance area is framed by wooden structures that serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, creating a smooth transition between exterior and interior. Large windows provide abundant natural light as well as a connection to the surrounding landscape. The arranged stone pathway and laconic landscaping emphasize the ecological focus of the project.
