Neoclassical façade with arched window and mascaron

#5926. Neoclassical façade with arched window and mascaron

The image showcases an elegant neoclassical window that serves as a distinctive element of a historic façade. The architectural composition is executed in light sandstone or limestone, giving the building a noble and monumental appearance. The window opening features an arched form with a semicircular top and a clear geometric pattern of window frames.

The decorative design of the window deserves special attention. Above the central part of the arch is an expressive mascaron in the form of a female head adorned with a laurel wreath – a classical motif referencing ancient traditions. The arched structure is emphasized by voussoirs forming a prominent archivolt. On both sides of the window, elements of the classical order system are visible – fragments of pilasters with floral ornament capitals.

The modern white PVC window frame has been seamlessly integrated into the historical framework, preserving the original architectural composition while adapting it to contemporary thermal insulation requirements. This combination of old and new represents a characteristic example of careful restoration of historic buildings, maintaining their visual integrity while modernizing functional elements.
