#5897. Monumental Caryatid on Art Nouveau Brick Facade

Before us is an expressive element of architectural decoration, a monumental caryatid embedded in the facade of an Art Nouveau era building. The sculpture is executed in a manner characteristic of the early 20th century, with elements of stylization and simplification of classical forms. The caryatid partially protrudes from the wall plane and serves as a decorative support for the cornice above.

The sculptural image is distinguished by its massiveness and expressive plasticity. The lower part of the figure has a textured, roughly processed surface that contrasts with the smoother upper part, creating an interesting textural effect. Some deterioration of the sculpture's surface is noticeable, testifying to the age of the building and the effects of time.

The building's facade is faced with light-colored bricks with clearly defined masonry, typical of architecture from that period. The combination of handcrafted sculpture with industrial elements, such as the downpipe, creates a dialogue between artisanal and industrial principles in architecture that is characteristic of early Art Nouveau.
