#5778. Biforate Window on Brick Façade: Medieval Motif in Contemporary Architecture

The image showcases an elegant arched window in a brick wall, executed in Neo-Romanesque or Neo-Gothic style. The window features a characteristic medieval biforate (double) form with a central column dividing the window opening. The arched construction is framed by meticulously laid brickwork in a warm terracotta hue.

Particularly noteworthy is the decorative treatment of the window: above the double arch lies a small ornamental element in the shape of a star or flower, rendered in white plaster. The window frame itself contains stained glass with a diamond pattern and circular blue medallions at the center of each section. The central column is topped with a capital, seemingly made of stone or plaster.

The brick façade displays characteristic signs of an old building – heterogeneity in brick coloration, visible traces of weathering, and natural aging of the material in places. The lower part of the image shows a fragment of another arched structure of the same building, creating a rhythmic composition on the façade.

The windowsill is adorned with potted plants, giving the window a picturesque, lived-in appearance and creating a pleasant contrast between the structured architectural form and the free-flowing organic greenery.
