Baroque Door Facade from 1618 with Carved Architectural Decoration

#5663. Baroque Door Facade from 1618 with Carved Architectural Decoration

The image showcases a magnificent example of a carved wooden door in the Baroque style, created, according to the dating on the upper part of the portal, in 1618. This is an exquisite specimen of early 17th-century architectural decoration with ornamentation elements characteristic of the era.

The door portal is framed by a light stone opening with minimalist geometric finishing, which contrasts with the dark wood of the door itself. The facade composition represents a complex multi-level architectural structure, mimicking a classical building facade in miniature. The upper pediment contains the figures "1618," indicating the year of creation, and is adorned with volute-shaped scrolls.

The central part is designed as a portico with two expressive columns featuring decorative carvings that imitate drapery. The arched niche with a shell-shaped completion (a "rocaille" motif) adds depth to the composition and serves as the central design element. The lower part of the portal is decorated with consoles and geometric ornaments.

The carving demonstrates high craftsmanship with an abundance of decorative elements: volutes, cartouches, and floral motifs that create a rich play of light and shadow on the door's surface. The metal keyhole on the left side is the only functional element in this predominantly decorative composition.
