Red Brick Victorian Facade with Ornate White Porch

#5281. Red Brick Victorian Facade with Ornate White Porch

This is a magnificent example of a Folk Victorian residential house, likely built in the late 19th century. The facade is constructed of red brick with abundant white wooden decorative elements creating a striking contrast. Particularly expressive is the spacious porch with ornamental woodwork characteristic of this style: intricate brackets, fan-shaped patterns, and turned balusters.

The house features an asymmetrical layout and a steep gabled roof. Note the decorative elements of the gable with carved vergeboards and circular medallions, which are typical features of Victorian architecture. The window openings are tall, mostly rectangular, with decorative trim. The corner section of the house is designed as a bay window with its own small roof.

The first-floor porch with its elegant carved columns and patterned friezes deserves special attention as it wraps around the facade and part of the side of the house. This architectural solution not only embellishes the building but also creates a pleasant transitional space between the house and garden, characteristic of American residential architecture of that era. The attractiveness of the facade is enhanced by the well-maintained green lawn and surrounding trees, creating a harmonious landscape context.
