Exquisite ceramic decoration on facade: interplay of color and form in Art Nouveau style

#4989. Exquisite ceramic decoration on facade: interplay of color and form in Art Nouveau style

The image shows a fragment of a building facade with decorative elements in Art Nouveau or Eclectic style. The facade features glazed ceramic tiles in rich colors — green, brown, turquoise, and mustard yellow.

In the upper part of the fragment, there is a vertical decorative element with a symmetrical stylized floral ornament resembling intertwining shoots and flowers. The central motif of this composition is a decorative stylized grape cluster, framed by elegant S-shaped elements in turquoise and beige colors.

In the lower part of the fragment, there is a circular rosette with a petal ornament resembling a stylized flower or sun. The rosette is executed in yellow and placed in a round green niche. The petals have smooth, volumetric forms characteristic of the Art Nouveau of the early 20th century.

All elements demonstrate high quality of execution and attention to detail characteristic of a period when decorative facade elements received special attention. The color palette and plasticity of forms create an expressive architectural accent, which is likely part of a more complex decorative solution of the entire facade.
