Elegant Art Nouveau: Polychrome Facade with Curvilinear Pediment and Secession Decor

#4760. Elegant Art Nouveau: Polychrome Facade with Curvilinear Pediment and Secession Decor

Before us is an expressive example of early 20th century Art Nouveau architecture with elements of Baroque influence. The building's facade features a characteristic curvilinear pediment, creating a dynamic silhouette against the blue sky. The combination of white stuccoed surface with colored stripes (red and blue) that frame the building's contour adds special expressiveness and emphasizes its architectural character.

In the center of the upper part of the facade, there is an elegant stucco composition with a plant motif, resembling a stylized mask or decorative bas-relief. This element serves as the main accent of the pediment and testifies to the influence of Secession style in the building's decoration.

The window openings are harmoniously integrated into the composition. The upper narrow vertical window emphasizes the central axis of the facade, while the lower wide window with an arched top creates the main light opening. The texture of the plaster gives the facade a special tactility, while carefully crafted details – circular rosettes and colored stripes – create a rhythm and decorative richness characteristic of Art Nouveau.

The facade demonstrates the skill of architects of that time in creating buildings that combine functionality with artistic expressiveness. Despite its relatively small size, the building possesses monumentality and a memorable appearance thanks to its thoughtful composition and decorative elements.
