Art Nouveau Building Façade with Decorative Panels and Ornamental Elements

#4739. Art Nouveau Building Façade with Decorative Panels and Ornamental Elements

The image shows a fragment of a brick building façade in the Art Nouveau style, adorned with remarkable decorative elements. The building is constructed of red brick with gray stone inserts forming horizontal bands, creating a rhythmic structure for the façade.

Particularly eye-catching are three semi-circular panels above the windows, executed in sgraffito or bas-relief technique. The left panel depicts a rooster and a rising sun, the middle one features a mythological scene with flying figures surrounded by flowers, and the right one presents a fantastic night landscape with bats. This symbolism is typical of Art Nouveau with its affinity for natural motifs and mystical imagery.

Below the windows, decorative elements are also visible: beneath the balcony, an ornamental panel with floral patterns, and to the right, a circular medallion featuring a female profile framed by floral ornaments. The balcony with its geometric metal railing serves as a functional element while harmoniously fitting into the overall aesthetic of the façade.

The window openings are rectangular and modern, likely replaced during renovation of the building, creating an interesting contrast between the historical decor and contemporary elements. Plants in pots are arranged on the balcony, giving the building a lived-in appearance.
