Carved Wooden Facade: Russian Modern Style with Traditional Ornamentation

#4009. Carved Wooden Facade: Russian Modern Style with Traditional Ornamentation

This magnificent example of traditional Russian wooden architecture represents a richly decorated wooden house in the Russian Modern style with characteristic elements of carved ornamentation. The two-story structure stands out with its high pointed roofs with carved ridge decorations, creating a dynamic silhouette.

The facade of the house is abundantly adorned with intricate carvings, demonstrating the high craftsmanship of folk artisans. Particularly eye-catching are the delicate fretwork valances framing the cornices and pediments of the roof, as well as the decorative framing of window openings with filigree platbands. The windows have traditional divisions into small sections, which is characteristic of the Russian style.

The luxurious porch-veranda with massive turned pillars-columns and carved railings creates an expressive architectural accent. The second-floor balcony with a balustrade of turned balusters organically continues the composition of the veranda, providing a smooth transition between levels. The meticulously crafted brick fence with metal lacework completes the ensemble, emphasizing the status and aesthetic value of the building.

The warm reddish-brown tone of the wood creates a harmonious contrast with the metal roofing and elements of brickwork. This is an excellent example of Russian wooden architecture, where traditional forms of national architecture are enriched with decorative elements characteristic of the late 19th – early 20th century.
