Modern urban house with industrial facade and cantilevered second floor

#17757. Modern urban house with industrial facade and cantilevered second floor

This modern urban house is a striking example of industrial minimalism in residential architecture. The facade is constructed from dark bricks, creating a solid and substantial ground floor. The upper level dramatically cantilevers forward, underscored by warm wooden cladding on its underside, establishing an interesting contrast with the industrial aesthetic of the main volume.

The second floor deserves special attention with its panoramic glazing and vertical metal louvers that not only provide privacy but also create a rhythmic visual element. These facade design solutions give the building both openness and protection, allowing light to penetrate inside while maintaining the residents' privacy.

The entrance area on the ground floor features warm brown accents around the doorway, which harmonizes with the wooden soffit of the cantilever. Thoughtful landscaping in front of the house softens the strict geometry of the architecture. The metal fencing around the property supports the industrial aesthetic while remaining airy and avoiding a sense of enclosure.

In this project, the architects masterfully combined the brutality of materials with the elegant lightness of forms. Similar techniques can be applied to one's own home: contrasting combination of materials (brick, metal, wood, glass), vertical louvers for privacy control, cantilevered projections to create a dynamic silhouette, and integration of natural elements to soften strict lines.
