Modern Farmhouse Facade: Harmony of White Siding, Brick, and Stone

#16584. Modern Farmhouse Facade: Harmony of White Siding, Brick, and Stone

Before us stands a magnificent example of a modern interpretation of the classic American farmhouse facade with neo-traditional elements. The house demonstrates a masterful combination of various textures and materials, creating visual interest without being overwhelmed with details.

The facade features characteristic pointed gables that give the building vertical aspiration and a classic silhouette. The main finishing material is white vertical board and batten siding combined with light-colored brick masonry, providing an elegant contrast of textures. Particularly noteworthy is the central arched entrance with columns, creating an impressive accent on the main facade.

The window openings are designed in a classic style — predominantly vertical proportions with dark frames, creating a clear contrast with the white walls. The roofing details, including the dark blue metal covering above the bay window and the main dark roof, add depth to the overall composition. The architect skillfully designed the facade using asymmetry while maintaining overall harmony and balance.

The lower part of the property is framed by an impressive retaining wall made of natural boulders, which not only serves a functional purpose but also creates an interesting transition between architecture and landscape. Soft plantings in front of the house and vertical accents in the form of young trees soften the overall geometry of the building.

When designing your own facade, you can take note of several techniques: combining two or three contrasting materials to create textural depth, using accent architectural elements (like the arched entrance in this example), playing with window openings of different sizes and proportions, and thoughtfully integrating the building into the landscape using retaining walls and greenery.
