Monumental Arched Portal with Terracotta Door: Exquisite Eclectic Style Facade

#1644. Monumental Arched Portal with Terracotta Door: Exquisite Eclectic Style Facade

This impressive portal represents an exquisite example of architectural magnificence with exceptional attention to detail. The monumental arched composition is executed in an eclectic style with elements of Art Nouveau and Neoclassicism. The main emphasis is placed on the majestic semicircular arch, framed by decorative round medallions that create an effect of rhythm and solemnity.

The door panel is painted in a subdued terracotta shade, which harmoniously contrasts with the sandy-beige stone framing. The double door is divided into sections with decorative black glass inserts, adding lightness and elegance to the composition. Above the main door is a semicircular transom element with delicate metal grillwork, which is a typical solution for buildings from the late 19th - early 20th century.

On both sides of the entrance group, one can notice number plates – 18 on the left and 571 on the right, indicating historical urban numbering. Decorative elements on the pilasters at the base of the arch with floral ornaments complement the overall picture of sophistication.

When designing a facade for a private home, several techniques can be borrowed from this specimen: using arched elements to give significance to the entrance area; contrasting combination of materials and colors; decorative division of the door panel; application of transoms with ornamental elements. It is important to maintain proportions and not overload the composition with details to preserve the harmony and integrity of the architectural solution.
