Art Nouveau Façade with Decorative Tree of Life from 1908

#16257. Art Nouveau Façade with Decorative Tree of Life from 1908

Before us is an exquisite example of decorative façade design in the Art Nouveau style from the early 20th century, likely 1908, judging by the date indicated on the central element. The façade is made of red brick with a carefully thought-out architectural composition, centered on a tree bas-relief framed by an arched structure.

Of particular note is the central decorative element – a sculptural representation of a tree with a lush crown, executed in relief, where the foliage is depicted in a rich green color that contrasts with the terracotta background of the brickwork. Above the tree is the date "1908," integrated into the overall composition. The upper part of the façade is adorned with an elegant wrought iron balcony balustrade, executed in the flowing, organic style characteristic of Art Nouveau.

The arched element is framed by green glazed tiles, creating refined color accents and emphasizing the main lines of the structure. The lower part of the decorative composition is completed with ornamental wrought iron elements featuring the sinuous lines characteristic of Art Nouveau, which harmoniously transition into the arched structure.

This architectural approach of combining natural materials – brick, ceramics, and metal – with botanical motifs embodies the key principles of the Art Nouveau style: the pursuit of organic forms, integration of symbolic elements, and attention to decorative expressiveness.

Similar techniques can be adapted for a contemporary façade by using combinations of contrasting materials, accent decorative elements, integration of natural motifs, and colored inserts to create an expressive architectural image.
