Two-level Contrast Facade: Red Brick and Black Metal

#16100. Two-level Contrast Facade: Red Brick and Black Metal

This modern residential house exemplifies a striking contrast in architecture, combining traditional and contemporary materials. The two-story building is characterized by a bold juxtaposition of warm brick masonry on the ground floor and a minimalist black metal facade on the upper level.

The lower floor features red brickwork with an interesting textural play — insertions of white bricks creating a dynamic pattern across the surface. A large panoramic window on the first floor is framed with thin black profiles, establishing a visual connection with the metal upper level. Above the entrance area sits a minimalist canopy, finished in the same black color as the upper floor.

The second story is designed as a rectangular volume with vertical articulation of metal panels creating a rhythmic structure. A small recessed window on the second floor adds architectural interest and breaks the monolithic nature of the black volume. The facade design is complemented by understated light fixtures that accentuate the building's geometry.

The landscape design includes a brick-paved pathway that echoes the facade material, and low-growing plants creating a natural transition between the architecture and the surrounding environment.

This approach to facade design can be applied to one's own home by using contrasting materials to create visual interest. The combination of traditional brick with contemporary metal panels achieves a balance between warmth and austerity, while variations in brickwork add individuality and textural richness.
