Before us stands a magnificent example of Art Nouveau architecture with elements of German fachwerk (half-timbering). The three-story building demonstrates a harmonious combination of white plastered walls and reddish-brown wooden elements, creating a characteristic contrasting pattern on the facade.
The asymmetrical composition of the facade with protruding bay windows and a balcony deserves special attention. The upper floor is designed in the half-timbering technique — the exposed wooden frame in reddish-brown effectively contrasts with the white infills. The complex-shaped roof is covered with gray slate, has several pointed gables, and is crowned with a small tower with a weather vane, giving the building a fairytale, romantic appearance.
The window openings vary in shape: arched on the lower floor and rectangular with decorative glazing patterns on the upper floors. The entrance to the building is framed by a semicircular arch and a wide staircase, creating a sense of monumentality and hospitality.
For private house construction, several elements of this style can be borrowed: contrasting combination of materials and colors on the facade, decorative wooden elements, variety of window opening shapes, as well as asymmetry in composition, which gives the building dynamism and uniqueness. Even on a smaller scale, such techniques will help create an expressive architectural image.
