#15303. Neo-Flemish Brick Facade with Stepped Gable

Before us is an expressive example of brick architecture, demonstrating characteristics of neo-Gothic and neo-Flemish styles. The building features a distinctive stepped gable (pediment) on the main facade, which is a typical element of Flemish architecture. The facade is made of red brick, creating a warm, rich color and texture.

The composition of the facade is strictly vertical, emphasized by tall arched windows and doorways. The arched elements at different levels of the building are particularly noteworthy: in the entrance portal and in the window openings of the upper floors. Notice the decorative wrought iron anchors on the facade – a functional element that has become an expressive decorative detail.

The building has an asymmetrical composition, which adds picturesqueness and dynamism. The combination of various window openings – from tall arched to rectangular – creates an interesting rhythm on the facade. Greenery plays a special role: ivy covering part of the facade and neat green plantings soften the rigidity of the brickwork.

In modern private construction, several techniques visible here can be successfully employed: the contrasting combination of brick and white decorative elements, the use of arched motifs to give expressiveness to the facade, vertical zoning using diverse window openings, and the integration of greenery to soften the monolithic nature of the brick facade.
