Australian Art Deco: Elegant Green Masonic Building Facade with Geometric Elements

#15275. Australian Art Deco: Elegant Green Masonic Building Facade with Geometric Elements

Before us stands an excellent example of Art Deco architecture with clear influences of Australian modernism, as indicated by the Australian flag on the facade. The "Masonic" building represents an elegant combination of geometric forms and decorative elements characteristic of 1920-30s architecture.

The facade is designed in a white and green color scheme, where the main volume is executed in white, while the central entrance area is accentuated in a soft green hue. Particularly noteworthy is the stepped composition of the upper portal with vertical ribbed elements creating a rhythmic geometric pattern. The composition is crowned by a vertical element typical of Art Deco, featuring a striped ornament in orange and green tones.

The "Masonic" name is displayed through stylized stained glass panels, adding sophistication to the building. The entrance group is formed by a wide staircase and framed by symmetrically placed decorative plants in pots, which softens the geometric strictness of the architecture.

In designing your own facade, several techniques could be borrowed: symmetrical composition, use of vertical ribbed elements to create rhythm, contrasting color solutions, and decorative framing of the entrance area. Even on a smaller scale, such details can give a building individual character, reminiscent of the elegant Art Deco era.
