Modernism in Detail: Turquoise Ceramic Facade with Spiral Ornament

#14308. Modernism in Detail: Turquoise Ceramic Facade with Spiral Ornament

Before us is a remarkable example of a decorative facade in Art Nouveau or Modernist style, where the main accent is an exquisite ceramic finish in blue-turquoise palette. Two arched windows are framed with glazed tiles of rich blue color with greenish undertones, creating the effect of a precious setting.

The central area between the windows is decorated with ornamental tiles featuring a repeating spiral pattern reminiscent of water ripples or stylized waves. This motif, characteristic of Art Nouveau aesthetics, gives the facade a sense of movement and depth. Particularly impressive is the color gradation from darker to lighter shades of turquoise, which enhances the decorative effect.

Above the windows is a semicircular molded element in a light color that balances the composition and adds an architectural accent. The lower part is finished with a minimalist concrete parapet with rhythmic geometric recesses, creating an interesting contrast with the fluid forms of the upper section.

When designing a facade for your own home, similar techniques can be adapted by using local accents of ceramic tiles to highlight window openings or create decorative panels. Even small ceramic inserts can significantly enrich the exterior appearance of a building and give it individuality.

We redesign facades of cottages.
